The Ultimate Frisbee Players at Philadelphia University have developed an exponentially growing campus-wide club sport for the past 10 years. The students have become very passionate about the game and its on-campus success. Philadelphia University’s Ultimate Frisbee club, more widely known as ‘Diskfunctional’, currently boasts approximately 35 student athletes who participate on a regular basis.
Diskfunctional has split up into 2 teams, mixed and women’s that compete in tournaments as a team called PhilaU Ultimate Frisbee. Both teams participate in off-campus tournaments in both the fall and the spring competing against other college teams. During the spring both teams are registered through USA Ultimate so they are able to be ranked among other colleges nationally and play other colleges within their region. The mixed team made it to sectionals last spring and the women’s team placed 6th in regionals.
PhilaU Ultimate Frisbee has spread its name throughout the Ultimate community. Players from the team have continuously helped out Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (PADA) with multiple projects. We are continuing to help out the fellow ultimate community while also getting Philadelphia University’s name out there.
